CollabSphere 2020 is starting tomorrow, this year naturally taking the form of an online conference, which has the nice benefit of meaning that you can still sign up if you haven't done so, and you're only restricted by your time zone offset for attending.
For my part, I'll be giving a presentation on the NSF ODP Tooling, currently slated for tomorrow:
DEV101 - Add Continuous Delivery to Domino with the NSF ODP Tooling
Domino applications, stored in NSFs, have been historically difficult to add to Continuous Integration tools like Jenkins and to have participate in Continous Delivery workflows. This session will discuss the NSF ODP Tooling project on OpenNTF, which allows you to take Domino-based projects - whether targetting the Notes client or web, XPages or not - and integrate them with modern tooling and flows. It will demonstrate use with projects ranging from a single NSF to a suite of a dozen OSGi plguins and two dozen NSFs, showing how they can be built and packaged automatically and consistently.
I hope you'll be able to attend - there are definitely some very-interesting topics lined up.

The first one will be a continuation of our collective descent into madness when it comes to XPages, the second will be an open-ended discussion of how we can or do use OpenNTF projects in our work, and the last will be a practical example of such projects in action, in particular using them to write cleaner and more-portable XPages code.
I just returned from this year's MWLUG, held in surprisingly-rainy Austin, Texas. As every year, MWLUG is an outstanding event, particularly for a development crowd (though I think admins get tons of material too). I'm definitely looking forward to next year's in DC, and not merely because that's a pretty quick drive for me.
I'll have some more to write later to follow up on the themes of this year's event, but in the mean time I've uploaded the slides from my presentation:
AD106 - Expand Your Apps And Skills To The Wider World
This was a fun one to present, and should lead into a lot of good blog material in the future.
MWLUG 2016 is happening this week, down in I'm-sure-it's-not-deathly-hot Austin, Texas. MWLUG has really proven to be a top-tier conference for our community, and I'm looking forward to it again this year. To be fair, part of that is that I'll be presenting on Friday, with a session entitled "Expand Your Apps And Skills To The Wider World":
The technological world has changed, but the work done by your Domino apps has not. Rather than discarding your old applications in a distruptive process, it is possible to extend them forward into the modern world: native mobile applications, modern web technologies, and integration with new platforms. This session will demonstrate using active open-source technologies to build new, mobile-enabled UIs, run smoothly on Bluemix, integrate with Watson, perform deep reporting with DashDB, and integrate authentication in Connections Cloud. These examples use Darwino for Domino connectivity and app structure, and this session will also introduce the forthcoming Darwino.org open-source community.
This will be something of a followup to my previous sessions about becoming familiar first with Java in XPages and then eventually with Maven. It's an interesting time to be in the spot we are, and I hope to make some sense of one of the paths we can take.
So, please join me Friday at 11:30 - 12:30 (where hopefully we won't be too ravenous for lunch) and all week to catch up and talk shop.
As prophesied, I gave a presentation on MWLUG last week. Keeping with my tradition, the slides from the deck are not particularly useful on their own, so I'm not going to post them as such. However, Dave Navarre once again did the yeoman's work of recording my session, so it and a number of other sessions from the conference are available on YouTube.
In addition, my plan is to expand, as I did earlier today, on the core components of my session in blog form, in a way that wouldn't have made much sense in a conference session anyway. And, if I'm as good as my word, I'll make a NotesIn9 episode or two on the subject.

At this year's MWLUG, I presented two sessions: one on using nginx as a reverse proxy and load balancer, and one on structured XPages development.
Normally, the next step would be to post the slides, but my decks aren't particularly useful on their own - they were small 8-slide affairs that mostly served as a memory assistance to me, one sight gag, and then a "Demo" slide where I switched to the normal screen for the actual code.
So my plan instead is to blog with the details. The latter session's blog posts actually mostly exist already; I just need to finish the series and provide a capping-off. The nginx stuff, though, doesn't exist yet, and I hope to post my configs and an explanation of the basic process soon enough.
As I mentioned at the end of this morning's post about SSL and reverse proxies, I'm going to be giving a session on using a reverse proxy in front of Domino at this year's MWLUG next week. Specifically, it will be one of two sessions, both on Friday:
I'll be discussing the general reasons why you would use a reverse proxy - not just the aforementioned SSL benefit, but also load balancing, failover, multi-app integration, new features like GeoIP, config/upgrade management, and content rewriting. I'll also discuss a specific setup based on my use of using nginx + HAProxy to use a proxying server to stand in front of two Domino servers on nearby machines. Though the practical example will be based on nginx on a Linode instance, the overall concepts are useful with other front-end servers or devices.
I'll be discussing the process and reasons for building an app using my XPages Scaffolding project and its further-advanced cousin the frostillic.us Framework. As with the ongoing series, I'll be demonstrating the structure of a basic app using my techniques, where they differ from common practice, where they are the same, and why it's worthwhile to adopt a similar structure. And much like my other session, though the specific example will be with my framework, the concepts and priorities can be applied without it.
